Until Proven Guilty

A little over a year ago January 31, 2008, my son was arrested in his work place charged with homicide. The alleged crime happened more than 2 years ago, July 16, 2006. We never received a subpoena on the charges against him prior to issuance of a warrant of arrest. Arresting officers said there was overwhelming evidence on his participation on the crime. There are around 6 to 8 of them charged on the crime. Each of them were tagged by one different witness each. So, there were also 6 to 8 witnesses. If all these witnesses were there, how come they did not see all and tagged only one each? Other evidence were autopsy and an alleged web site! Nothing directly pointing to the actual commission of the crime! They said a rock or stone caused a fatal injury to the head of the victim!?!

Based on those, my son was locked up in jail until we could raise the 200,000 bail. He languished in jail for 2 months until we were able to afford the bail bond. During that time, I did some sleuthing on what really happened. From all stories heard from teeners who knew about the incident, it seems that the group of the victim was responsible for his death. It was consistent that the car they were riding was more than it could accommodate and the victim was either thrown out or fell off the car while speeding away after firing shots! It seems that the victim was under "initiation" by this group or gang.  It was rumored that it was his first time to go on an "adventure" with this war freak group.

Those who knew or heard about the real events on that gory night would not step up to testify as to what really happened.  They are afraid of being singled out by the victim's group.  If they are guilty of ending the life of one of their own, what more for those that they don't care about?
