How do you engage children and encourage them to learn and be active?
67One important thing to consider when engaging and encouraging children to learn is know what their interests are. It is like knowing what they are fond of eating. Normally, they would not eat what they do not like. Getting them interested is one good way for them to learn. It will be nice if you are a good observer. In observing children, you will quickly recognize what they are interested in and up to what extent. Curiosity of children is one good way to make them interested. Their curiosity is often satisfied with results that they want to know. When they see the results and are happy about it, this usually leads to interest.
A good example will be sports and lets take a ball as a focus of their curiosity. There are many ways to use or play with a ball. It could be rolled to hit something, kicked, batted away, tossed around, hurled inside a box or hit with a rod to roll. In doing these, you will find out where the child would be most happy with the result! If the child is happy hitting something when the ball is rolled, that could be bowling. When enjoying it being tossed around, it could be volley ball. My youngest son was so happy with shooting his foam ball into his crib when he was about 2 years old. He is now 16, and a good basketball player. There are many other ways to recognize interests that will encourage children to learn. Make sure you have the knowledge, time and means to guide them through the process.

I like the satisfied-with-results concept, that there can be a manifestation of the effectiveness of your attempts to interest them.
