Convenience = Laziness

Convenience
Convenience is the "easy-way-out". It is more convenient to use TV remote control than going over to the "idiot box" to change channel, change color options, do volume control, contrast, etcetera. Now, what would that equate to? I have been in wait for so many years to see some remote control on changing a flat tire. Though there are chemicals now injected in a tire to prevent it from running flat, it still is not that convenient when the puncture is larger than 1/4th of an inch. There are electronic or electrical devices that have been invented for convenience like automated toothbrush and shavers. Just imagine what effort do you save from that?
Laziness
Laziness has a broader meaning. It could mean no-desire-at-all to do productive work, or, do productive work in less the time and effort it usually takes for the same quality and volume! Would the latter be equivalent to convenience or more of laziness? But, most of the time, convenience does not necessarily relate to productive work, so that would point back to laziness again, do you follow? The question now is, "where do we draw the thin line between being productively lazy and conveniently productive. If time saved is considered as productive, then we again need to qualify if the time saved is used for a qualified productivity. If not, it redounds back to something as a waste of time.
Sometimes, convenience is justified as time saving regardless of whether time saved is used productively or not. Laziness is not justified because it mere points to being unproductive and no saved time at all.
The Complications
What makes convenience complicated? Human physical effort is reduced or eliminated. But with the physical effort saved why is it now replaced by the necessity to exercise! Why is that? Why are there so many devices or schemes invented to do exercises? Physical effort is reduced or eliminated, now they come up with things needed for a person to exercise??? Don't we find that weird if not dumb?
With technology today we are aware that there are speech, remote and mind controlled devices that would do the work. Instead of turning the key of a car to unlock or lock the door, there are remote devices to do that! How much effort there is saved for a different use? Is that not laziness narrated to convenience?
The future does not look bright for human kind. Eventually, they will evolve to just mere heads and brains, with smaller lungs and heart to keep air and blood circulating! Soon to be replaced by computers! Exercise gadgets or things will be a thing of the past! In contrast, there are still some people into sports, so we might say it is not yet a by-gone conclusion. They will still need the human physique for that!
Now, give a good guess or opinion. Who will prevail, the technologically minded people or sports people? Mind you technologically oriented people are for convenience while sports people believe in human effort.

Very interesting and thought provoking Hub rbnstr08. I agree, we are becoming a lazy bunch in the civilized world.
Wow what a hub. Technology is indeed advancing and making us its slave.

As a doctor once told me: " your destiny is in your own hands". CLicking the remote, or taking the easy road does cost us. Thanks for the reminder that physical effort is required.
